The 13 Most Hilarious Anti-Piracy Traps In Video Games DRM takes many forms. This is the funniest. By Brock Wilbur on April 20, 2016. This one is just plain mean. There are several. EarthBound Zero Easy Patch. November 11th, 2008. EarthBound with New Game Plus (26) Read More EarthBound Run Patch (16). Does anyone know if this patch will trigger the anti piracy measures on the original prototype ROM dump? The one without the zero in the title.
Hi guys, honestly not sure what thread to post this in, please delete if necessaryRE: EB. Something has happened that I really need help with if possible.im sure you guys know of EB's satanic luciferian evil, simply evil anti piracy techniques.
If not, check this video out by the amazing guys over at starmen.netto cut a long story short, I download an Earthbound rom, and played it on my sd2snes. Got halfway through, literally to realise that i'm playing the game with level 3 piracy protection on. (loads of enemies spawning)its my first playthru so i thought this was normal! I did an MD5 checksum as advised to see what ROM I was using, and it turns out I was playing a non legitimate/ crap version of the rom that doesnt circumvent the anti piracy.
I have since downloaded the correct version (with the md5 starting with ABE), and booted my SRM save file on the new rom. Everything loads perfectly, except on the new rom, the same issue appears!!!!!!I think there is also anti piracy on my save file!! Its infected!!!!!! Its got the zika virus!!!Is there any way to deactivate it on the SRM file!?!??!?Is there any cheat i can use to fix the SRM file?!?!Is there any patch i can use on the rom to prevent all this from happening!?!?!?Im panicking so much right now, thats about 35+ hours of work lost if i cant do this.wondering if there are any nobel prize level geniuses on this board that can help me out here. Pretty sure that saves aren't being 'infected' by the AP (that would suck since even legit cards seem to get triggered occasionally for some reason.). Can you you try an emulator (I recommend higan) with the good rom and both your old save and a fresh one, and confirm the issues only show with the old one? Also, yes, of course there's roms out there that have the AP all patched out. Try the GoodSNES set, one of the 'f' ones should do the trick (though I'm not sure which one of those has all the layers of protection removed - anyone?
Fwiw, 'f3' has the most stuff changed around so that might be a good candidate. Do regular backups of the sram file to be safe.).
